Album Review: Mickelson – Known To Be Unknown

The line between folk rock and punk has been whittled down to little more than a shadow over the past decade, with everyone from Chuck Ragan and Frank Turner to Dave Hause unplugging over the years for a quieter sound but still singing full-throated, political, and societal anthems from time to time. Though the San Francisco-based Mickelson (aka Scott Mickelson) may be a little more on the folk rock/Americana end of the spectrum, there are still plenty of post-punk musical flourishes throughout his latest, Known To Be Unknown.
