Navigate the nautical sludge metal storm that is The Exile–the third full-length from Canadian duo Mares Of Thrace. Along this six-track odyssey you’re going to be drenched by jumbo waves of thick guitar tones and booming percussions. Brace yourself! The voyage begins with “Onward Ever Onward”, and immediately you can hear the Black Sabbath influence in the instrumentals. Guitarist/vocalist Thérèse Lanz’s riffs and drummer/bassist Casey Rogers’ beats are bluesy like Sabbath’s, but less dark and more adventurous. Lanz’s vocals are dominantly raspy and throat-tearing, though, unlike Ozzy’s.
