Album Review: Current Joys – Voyager

To label a record as a concept album feels loaded in some way. Describing narrative or theme based albums with the term of concept album can fall short in truly capturing the essence and experience of what that album is trying to achieve. While calling a record a concept album might not convey the totality of what the record is trying to do, it can be a good place to start. Voyager, the new Current Joys album out through Secretly Canadian, feels conceptual. Like a motion picture soundtrack to a film that is lost or has not been made yet, the record seemingly reveals unspoken stories in movies indirectly.
