Album Review: Bishops Green – Black Skies

Bishops Green have earned a much beloved position in the world of Oi! and punk. While they create their intense music under ominous and cynical song titles, singing of hard life lessons, Bishops Green always weaves a silver lining in the dark clouds of their Black Skies. The band, hailing from Vancouver BC, were an amalgamation of past skinhead/punk bands: The Glory Stompers, Subway Thugs, The Lancasters, and Alternate Action. Their self-titled, debut EP and emotional live show captured small DIY venues and fest audiences alike. Between 2013 and 2016, the band output a slew of releases on scene stalwarts like Rebellion, Oi! the Boat, Pirates Press, Longshot, Randale, Contra, Bords de Seine, etc. Garnering much respect throughout the rapid three years, Bishops Green fell quiet.
