Album Review: 09 – Lost Years

“No singer, no problem” is the moniker of Portland, OR alternative rock duo 09. The brainchild of EJ Olson and Chancelor Reeder is in fact not an instrumental project, but a unique and collaborative coming together of some of the scene’s most visible lead vocalists. Each track features a different lead vocalist and as such, 09 are able to tell myriad stories under the roof of one album, debut LP, ‘Lost Years’. Dayseeker’s Rory Rodriguez is our first narrator, “Echoes” tackles the idea of dealing with and embracing change, whether that is a clever metaphor for the diversity of ‘Lost Years’ or not is neither here nor there, as Olson, Reeder and Rodriguez hone a delightfully anthemic opener. There are few more distinctive vocals than Hail The Sun’s Donovan Melero and “Consolidator” stands out...
