According to that ultimate bastion of knowledge, Wikipedia, a one-hit wonder is ‘any entity that achieves mainstream popularity and success for a very short period of time, often for only one piece of work, and becomes known among the general public solely for that momentary success.’ Seems about right. One-hit wonders are 10 a penny in the pop world, of course, but every so often they also pop up – pun not intended – in rock.
