Stand Still release new song, playing shows with Family Dinner, Private Mind, more

Long Island melodic hardcore/emo torch-carriers Stand Still have shared a new single, “Steps Ascending” (not a Thursday cover). Like their past material, it’s a catchy, chugging ripper in the vein of classic bands like Silent Majority, Lifetime, and The Movielife and newer bands like Koyo and Anxious, and here’s what vocalist Gerry Windus says about it: These lyrics are inspired by Catholic guilt and the anxiety that can arise from questions left unanswered. Growing up in a religious household often leads to feeling as if everything is supposed to hold a deeper meaning, this track attempts to describe those feelings in the catchiest way possible.
