Toronto rock band Metric has long been on my must-see bands list ever since their song “Black Sheep” was featured in the 2010 film Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. The four-piece commanded the SummerStage in NYC’s iconic Central Park and is currently on tour with fellow rockers Garbage and Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. Vocalist Emily Haines, guitarist James Shaw, bassist Joshua Winstead, and drummer Joules Scott-Key make up the band. Although their set was short, it was full of fan-favorites spanning their discography. Opening with “Gold Guns Girls” from 2009’s Fantasies, then launching into 2018’s “Dark Saturday” from Art of Doubt, the crowd was able to experience all of Metric’s sound.
