The first song on a new album is important. In a lot of cases, it can make or break the attention span of the listener. “Awake” is the lead track from It’s All Over, the new album from Los Angeles-based Alternative/Emo/Punk band, Sad Park. One minute into this song, and I felt hypnotized into listening to the rest of the record. Two things went through my mind … I would either be ecstatic from hearing a dope new album, or I would be greatly let down by a band that chose their best hit as the lead track.
